The New Ather 450x could outperform the Ola S1 pro: Find out how?

Electric scooters are regarded as the game changer in transportation in recent times. In this regard, Ather Energy, a Bangalore-based startup company just a few years back, is now changing the view of the Indian riders with its innovative offering, the New Ather 450x

Because of its mature electric credentials, formidable ride-handling features, decent performance, and premium style, it has attracted the attention of many EV enthusiasts and potential buyers. Although, it is not the only one on sale in this country due to the plethora of available products in the market.

Among them, the Ola S1 Pro is a legitimate rival claiming to outperform Ather in every aspect. But the reality seems to be far from it. Here in this article, we will see how the new ather 450x is a better option than Ola S1 Pro, not only in range but also in other performances in the real world.

Key Elements That Will Determine Whether The New Ather 450x Can Surpass The Ola S1 Pro

1. Design and Finishing

Both Ola and Ather 450x have modern and futuristic machines. In comparison, the Ola looks larger and has swooping curves complemented by an android-like twin projector headlight, single-sided front suspension, and fatter tires which reestablish its unique visual aura. But when viewed up close, the pleasing visuals became real eye-opening as numerous inconsistencies in panel gaps and paint finish can be seen all around.

Meanwhile, Ather’s level of finishing is on another level. The rear LED lights and the floating side panels still turn heads, even though the scooter has become familiar. Everything is high quality, from the front mirrors to the number plate holder. Thus, Ather impresses not only with its battery range and top speed but also with a higher level of fit and finish than Ola.

2. Futuristic Features

Both of them have outstanding made-in-India features. The Ola scooters are started not by a physical key but by using either a smartphone or by entering the passcode in the TFT display, which might seem futuristic. Still, in practice, you need to engage in a time-consuming and tedious affair before being able to ride. On top of that, Ola has a low-quality screen with occasional glitches and slow response.

The new Ather 450xon the other hand, has an incredible TFT display, Bluetooth connectivity, reverse feature and navigation, connected data, and a network update facility. Thus, it is one level up from the Ola S1 Pro, where the software updates like Bluetooth connectivity, music playback, and cruise control are promising and yet to be fulfilled.

3. Battery and Motors

Ola is a winner in motor specifications because of its big battery and motor. The Ola is about 5 seconds quicker than New Ather 450x. At 80 kmph Ola can even attain the 100 km/h speed at 15.66 seconds. It is even quieter in general under acceleration than the other scooters.

But recently, it seems Ola’s four riding modes are responding dully at initial acceleration, and it is only when it crosses around 25-30kph that the performance level starts to increase. Performance tests have reflected that, mode after mode the New Ather 450x’s top speed is higher than the Ola.

The Ola overpasses the Ather once it has crossed 50kph, but the low-end zip arrives only in the fastest Hyper mode. Ola has many speedo errors too. Although it claims a top speed of 115, its actual speed is 99.8kph. Ather also has speedo error, but its Vbox-rated 80.3kph is the same as the company’s claim.

Ola also gives off a high-temperature warning while riding in a hilly area and heavy traffic. Even the light pressure on the brakes gets its accelerator disconnected.

While for setting 1, the maximum range is 146km for Ather, and for setting 2, it drops to 108km for one single charge: peak and nominal power outputs for Ather decrease with a transfer in mode from Sport to Eco. In Sport Mode, peak and nominal outputs come around 5.8kW and 3.1kW, respectively.

Ola’s range, although high in the tests, its batteries can be seen suddenly going dead. Even its range indicator is amazingly accurate and trustworthy. On top of that, charging the flat batteries of others needs a small amount of time, while Ola’s larger battery needs a total seven-hour to charge.

4. Pricing

If we talk about the pricing, the New Ather 450x comes with a premium price tag. In this regard, the Ola, with its outright performance, is notably more affordable than the Ather. For instance, in Maharashtra, the Ola S1 Pro comes at around Rs 1.11 lakh on the road, while the Ather 450x on-road price is Rs 1.35 lakh. But considering all the quality and features of Ather 450x, the scooter is more of a value for money than Ola.

5. Comfort and Convenience

While Ola is more spacious and comfortable, Ather is smaller and compact. This can cause discomfort to taller riders, but with its smaller battery, fancy aluminum chassis, and skinny tires, the handling of Ather makes it easier to take sharp turns and ride through traffic jams. It also has great disc braking systems and thick and sturdier cushioning. The current weather 450x on-road price is a more desired option than the Ola S1 pro.

Final Words

With awkward brake calibration and throttle, coupled with quality issues, Ola S1 pro fails to connect with the rider. At the same time, the New Ather 450x does it effortlessly and never leaves any rider disappointed. Thus, it is a smarter choice to select the New Ather 450X over Ols S1 Pro.
